Course Mail Error: Duplicate [Partial] Message Checksum

"Duplicate Message Checksum" error

"Duplicate Partial Message Checksum" error

These are errors that might be received after sending out a "duplicate" e-mail. Course mail tries to avoid mail loops by keeping a record of the messages that pass through it (a checksum of the message characters) and rejecting any subsequent messages from the same person with the same checksum. This would occur if you post the same message twice, either accidentally or on purpose.

However, it does not check attachments, so if someone at one point sends a message consisting of ONLY an attachment (no message text), or an attachment with a standard bit of introductory text, then any subsequent attempts to send different attachments in the same way will be rejected because they appear to be identical messages from the same person.

This problem can be solved by changing the message body of the e-mail, for example by adding or removing a few words.
