| New accounts for students, faculty, and staff |
Apply here for Mail@umd and TerpConnect accounts.
Mail@umd consolidates the e-mail services offered on several
OIT
systems at the University. It offers faster, more reliable service, virus scanning, and a Web-based interface that allows you to view and manage messages without configuring a browser client.
TerpConnect provides a Unix shell account with full
Internet access for any faculty, staff or student who requests one.
It provides a Unix command shell environment, programming, and various software
packages. Some software applications licensed by individual departments
and available on the TerpConnect system are only available in certain
workstation labs, on certain servers, or to users in specific groups. See
your instructor or advisor to get any special permissions you may
need. |
| Alumni Associations E-mail Forwarding Service |
Graduates from the class of May 2005 and before are
eligible to establish an e-mail forwarding service with a
terpalum.umd.edu
domain (for example, yourname@terpalum.umd.edu). For more information, contact Patrick Beasley at 301-405-7766. |
| ARES |
ARES access is automatically granted to anyone who is paid by the
University. Faculty

Additionally, many affiliates
are granted access. To log into ARES, use your Directory ID and
password. If you have
questions regarding your Directory ID or password, please contact the OIT Help
Desk directly. |
| University Directory ID |
Each person connected with the University of Maryland, in any
way, is listed in the University Directory without having to apply for an
"account" in the usual sense. Anyone listed in the directory can get a
Directory ID and password, which can be used to authenticate oneself to many
online systems, including:
as well as others. You can find your Directory ID by using the
Directory
Search Page. You can reset your own Directory password by using the Directory Password
Change tool. |
