Using Fugu to Transfer Files with SFTP in Mac OS X

Fugu 1.2.x is an SFTP application for Mac OS X 10.2.3 and higher. It provides a secure interface for transferring files between your computer and remote systems, such as WAM or Glue.

For information on how to download and install Fugu, go to Downloading and Installing Fugu 1.2.x.

To begin using Fugu:

  1. Double-click the Fugu icon to launch the program.

  2. The Fugu sftp interface will appear.

  3. In the Connect to: field, type in the name of the remote system you want to connect to, such as: wam.umd.edu or glue.umd.edu.

  4. In the Username: field, type in your login name for WAM or Glue.

  5. Click the Connect button. The first time you connect to WAM or Glue, you may get a warning stating that the authenticity of the host can't be established. Click Continue.

  6. You will then be prompted to type in your WAM or Glue password. Once you have typed in your password, click Authenticate.

  7. When you have successfully connected, files on your local computer will appear on the left side of the window, files on the remote system will appear on the right side of the window.

  8. At this point, you can navigate through directories on your local computer and the remote system. To transfer files, drag files from one side of the window to the other side of the window.

  9. To logout, click the Disconnect icon.
