How To Set Up A Mac OS X 10.5 Dorm Ethernet Connection

1. Click on the Apple menu and select System Preferences.

   

2. Under the Internet & Network section, click on the Network icon

   

3. From the column on the left side of the window, select Ethernet. (Note: You may be required to authenticate as an Administrator to complete these settings.)
4. Click on the drop-down menu next to Configure: and select Using DHCP.
5. In the DNS Server: field, type 128.8.74.2, 128.8.76.2, 128.8.5.2.
6. In the Search Domains: field, type umd.edu.
7. Click on the Apply button.

   

Note: Ethenet status will read "Connected" when properly configured.
