Division of Information Technology Blocking Certain Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) Connections

Due to increased risks of compromise of campus computers from the outside, the Division of Information Technology will begin blocking Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) connections that originate outside of the university network, effective October 3, 2012. RDP is used to gain remote access to Microsoft computers. Those who utilize RDP to access university computers from remote locations can continue to use this program by first utilizing the campus Virtual Private Network (VPN) service. For more details, please see: Virtual Private Networking (VPN) at the University of Maryland.
