The following e-mail clients work with the Mail@umd e-mail
system and are supported by the Office of Information Technology (OIT):
- Outlook Express 6.x and Windows Mail for
Vista/Windows 7
- Outlook XP, and Outlook 2003, 2007
- Entourage 2004, 2008
- Mail (for OS X)
- Pine (Glue Unix)
- Thunderbird 2.x
- SeaMonkey 1.1.x
Basic documentation on how to configure these e-mail clients and use them
to manage your e-mail on the Mail@umd system is available in the e-mail section of the
OIT Help Desk website.
While you are welcome to use other e-mail clients to access your
Mail@umd account, OIT cannot provide support for any problems you may
encounter when using a non-supported client. Keep in mind that there are
some older e-mail clients, such as Simeon and Execmail, that do not
support authenticated SMTP, a key feature of Mail@umd, and, therefore,
will not work with the Mail@umd system.
