Changing Your Finger Information

This page will show you how to change your finger information, on the TerpConnect system on campus.

NOTE: The Office of Information Technology recommends that you not make any changes to your login shell unless you are certain that you know what you are doing!

TerpConnect (powered by Glue)

1. As you log into TerpConnect, you are prompted to enter your password. You must enter your password in correctly because the system does not recognize the backspace/delete keys.
2. Use the command chfn from any shell prompt.
3. The system will prompt you to change the following information:
   
   Full Name:
   Room Number:
   Office Phone Number:
   Home Phone Number
   Login Shell:
   
   
4. The system will first prompt you for your Full Name. You can not change your name, but you may change the remaining information.
5. Press Return or Enter and you are moved to the next line.
6. The last prompt will ask if the information you have entered is correct.
7. Type the letter Y for Yes or N for No.
8. Changes take effect within one hour.
