Outage of OIT Backup Services on November 17, 2007

There will be a planned maintenance outage of the Office of Information Technology (OIT) production Tivoli Service Manager (TSM) server, tivoli.umd.edu, for about three hours starting on November 17, 2007 at 9:00 a.m.

Backup and restore services are expected to commence at approximately 12:00 p.m. All backup and restore operations attempted between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. will fail. Any backups that fail should be tried after 12:00 p.m. Please contact backups-help@umd.edu if any noticeable errors occur after this time.

The maintenance outage will enable us to upgrade the existing server hardware for the TSM server. The Central Processing Unit (CPU) and memory resources will be augmented and will position us to improve backup and restore services for our clients.
