How Do I Change My TerpConnect Password?

If you can login to your account:

  1. Log into the appropriate account
  2. At the command prompt enter passwd
  3. You will be asked for your old password once and your new password twice. None of these will appear on the screen
  4. Note: Changing your password using this command will also change the password you use with your Directory ID

If you cannot login to your account:

Try resetting your Directory ID password at the Password Management site. If you need to review the instructions on how to set or change your password, you can go to What's My Directory Password? If you are still having trouble, contact the Office of Information Technology (OIT) Help Desk and tell the consultant you want to change your TerpConnect password. The consultant will reset your UM Directory password; this will then allow you to set your own password for TerpConnect and UM Directory. The password reset should be immediate. Please see the Important Directory Password Expiration Information.
