Regular users of calendaring software will probably want to purchase the
client software from the
Software Licensing Department. The advantages of the client software
are:
- Ability to manage calendars belonging to other people, if they have granted you permission to
do so (designate rights).
- Improved ability to create and manage repeating meetings. It is more cumbersome to create
repeating meetings using the web interface, and it is not possible afterwards to edit the meetings
as repeating meetings. (Meetings created as repeating using the web interface can be edited as
repeating meetings using the client software.)
- Ability to create and manage groups.
- Ability to manage resources.
- Ability to work off-line, e.g. on a laptop while traveling.
- Alarms to warn you of upcoming meetings.
- Improved user interface
- Can create simple appointments by clicking-and-dragging over a time slot, rather than by
using the create meeting window/panel.
- Group calendar view allows direct creation of meetings for whole group.
- In-Tray to alert you when people have proposed meetings with you.
- Better control over exactly who receives an e-mail notification of a meeting you have proposed
with them, and ability to modify the content of the e-mail.
- Better support for tasks/to-do items, through a separate tasks window that allows for
different views, sorting, etc.
- Locate Person function, which allows you to quickly see what someone else is currently doing
(if you would normally have permission to see that information).
- Address Book
