Creating Repeating Meetings Oracle Calendar v. 6.x

Getting Started

First, create the meeting.

In the Edit Meeting screen, click on the Repeating button at the bottom of the window.

This will display the repeating entry window. It is possible to create meetings that repeat at very sophisticated intervals using Oracle Calendar. In this document, examples are shown for creating a meeting that occurs every week, and creating a meeting that occurs on the first and third Mondays of the month. However, it is possible to set up almost any meeting frequency using Oracle Calendar.

Creating a Weekly Meeting

To display the options for a weekly meeting, click on the drop-down menu just below the word Frequency, and choose Weekly from the menu.

Since the meeting is to occur on Thursdays, check the box labeled Thu

Choose the start date next to the word Start:. Then, either choose an end date by clicking on the radio button next to the word Until and filling in the appropriate information, or select the length of time you'd like the meeting to run, such as 1 year, by clicking on the radio button next to the word For and putting in the appropriate information. Note that it is not possible to set up a perpetual meeting using Oracle Calendar.

Scroll through the list of dates shown to verify that they are correct. If they are not, change the information earlier in the panel, and then verify the new dates.

Creating a meeting on the first and third Mondays of each month

To display the options for a weekly meeting, click on the drop-down menu just below the word Frequency, and choose Monthly on day(s) from the menu.

Next to the words On the, you will see a scrolling window allowing you to select which days the meeting will occur. In this case, the meeting is to occur on the first and third Mondays of each month, so you need to select more than one item from the list of choices. To do this, hold down the control key as you click each day. Since the meetings occur every month, leave the of every 1 month(s) option as is.

Additional Notes

You can delete specific dates from the Edit Meeting window and add specific dates by clicking the Add Date button. You would want to do this when there are specific meetings that occur out of the regular pattern.

By default, Oracle Calendar ignores Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays when creating meetings. Meetings that fall on weekends or holidays will not be scheduled. To override this behavior, check the appropriate boxes under Include, or add those dates manually.

If you drag one instance of a repeating meeting to a new time or date on your calendar, this will affect only that one instance of the meeting. If you need to change the time or day of all instances of the meeting, double-click on any instance of the meeting in your calendar to return to the Edit Meeting screen.
