To configure Microsoft Entourage 2008 for the WAM, Glue or
Deans e-mail system:
-
Click the Entourage icon to launch the program.

-
Once Entourage has launched, select Tools from the
top
toolbar and click on Accounts.

-
When the Accounts window appears, click on the New
icon and select Mail from the drop-down menu.

-
A New Account window will appear. At the Account
type drop-down menu, select either IMAP or POP.
IMAP is strongly recommended. Click the OK button.

-
The Edit Account window will appear.

-
In the Account name field, type a name that you will use to
identify the account. This can be helpful if you have several accounts in
Entourage and need to differentiate between them. For example, a name like
Glue will be sufficient.
- In the Name field, type your name, as you would like people
to see it when they receive mail from you.
- Type your e-mail address in the Email Address field. If your
WAM or Glue ID is jdoe, your e-mail address would be
jdoe@wam.umd.edu or jdoe@glue.umd.edu (as in the example
shown below).
-
Type your e-mail account user name in the field labeled Account ID.
In this example, if your e-mail address is jdoe@glue.umd.edu,
your user name will be jdoe.
-
In the IMAP server field, type in the appropriate incoming
mail server for your account. If your e-mail account is a:
- WAM account, use imap.wam.umd.edu
- Glue account, use imap.glue.umd.edu
- Deans account, use imap.deans.umd.edu
- If you would like Entourage to
remember your password so you do not have to enter it each time
you
check your mail, enter it in the Password box, and check
Save password in my MAC OS Keychain box.
- In the SMTP server field, type in the appropriate outgoing mail
server
for your account:
PLEASE NOTE: If you use an Internet service provider (ISP) other than the
University of Maryland for Internet access, you must use your ISP's SMTP
server instead of one of the servers listed below.
- WAM account, use smtp.wam.umd.edu
- Glue account, use smtp.glue.umd.edu
- Deans account, use smtp.deans.umd.edu

- Click the button that says Click here for
advanced receiving options.
-
In the small window that appears, check the box that says
This IMAP service requires a secure connection (SSL).
Close the small box.

- Click the OK button.
- The Accounts window will appear again. Click the red circle in
the upper left hand corner to close the window.

- Your account is now configured and will appear in the Entourage
window.
