Creating a Folder in Outlook Express 5

  1. Open Outlook Express and log into your account.
  2. At the left side you will see all the email accounts you have set up (if you have set up more than one).
  3. In this case (see image below) a IMAP WAM Account is setup and you can see several existing folders; inbox, sent-mail, Drafts ...

  4. Click on the File menu and select Folder then New.

  5. A window will appear prompting you for the location where you would like create a new folder.

  6. Keep in mind that you can only create a new folder under the main account heading. You cannot create a subfolder to an existing folder. For example, you cannot create a folder under the inbox.
  7. Type the name of the new folder and select the account under which you want to create the new folder.
  8. Click OK.
  9. The new folder should appear.
  10. *NOTE For IMAP ONLY!!! If the folder does not appear:
    • Click on the Tools menu and select IMAP Folders.
    • You get a new window. In this window (see image below), click on the tab labeled Visible then click on the button labeled Reset List. Finally, click OK.

  11. Your folder, regardless if you use IMAP or POP, should now be visible.
