Settings You Should Track on Your Macintosh

Here is a list of settings you should track on your Macintosh machine:

  1. Network settings such as TCP/IP settings and network identification information.
  2. Any settings for your e-mail client (like the Mail application or Thunderbird), such as the IMAP server and SMTP server.
  3. Any passwords you need to use programs or to access files.
  4. Apple computers are more forgiving than PC's when dealing with hardware configuration. It is, however, a good idea to take note of settings before changing anything.

A good practice is to save any documentation or software relating to your computer's hardware because you may need to use it again in the future.
