If you use the Mail@umd system to read
e-mail,
you will have to update your e-mail program's stored password setting every time you
change your
Directory
password.

Thunderbird 2.x
To change your stored password in Thunderbird 2.x on a
Windows PC:
- Launch the Thunderbird application
- Select the Tools menu then Options
- Click the Privacy
icon on the Options window
- Click the Passwords tab
- Click the Edit Saved Passwords button
- Select
imap://yourusername@mail.umd.edu on the Password Manager window
- Click the Remove button
- Select smtp://yourusername@mail.umd.edu
- Click the Remove button
- Click the Close button
- Click the OK button to close the Options window and
then quit Thunderbird
- Launch Thunderbird and you should then be
prompted to type in your new password
- Select Use Password Manager to remember this password to save this
new password.
SeaMonkey 1.1.x
To change your stored password in SeaMonkey 1.1.x on a Windows PC:
- Launch the SeaMonkey application
- Select the Tools menu and choose Password Manager from
list
- Choose Manage Stored
Passwords in the pop-up menu to the right
- Click the Passwords Saved tab
- Select
imap://yourusername@mail.umd.edu
- Click the Remove button
- Select smtp://yourusername@mail.umd.edu
- Click the Remove button
- Click the Close button and quit SeaMonkey
- Launch SeaMonkey again and then
type in your new password when you send or receive mail
- Select Use Password Manager to remember this password to save this
new password
Outlook 2003
To change your stored password in Outlook 2003 on a Windows PC:
- Launch the Outlook 2003 application
- Select the Tools menu then E-mail Accounts
- Select View or change existing e-mails accounts then click
the Next button
- Highlight your account
name and click the Change...
button on the E-mail Accounts window
- In the Password: field, type in your new password
- Click the More Settings... button
- Select the Outgoing
Server tab
- Click to select Use same settings as my incoming mail
server
- Click the OK button
- Click the Next button, then Finish
Outlook Express 6
To change your stored password in Outlook Express 6 on a Windows
PC:
- Launch the Outlook Express application
- Select the Tools menu and choose Accounts
- Click the
Mail tab on the Internet Accounts window
- Click the Properties
button
- Click the Servers tab
- Type in your new password in the Password: field
- Click the Settings button
- Click to select Use same settings as my incoming mail
server
- Click the OK button
- Click the Apply button, then OK
- Click the Close button
Eudora 6.2.3
To change your stored password in Eudora 6.2.3 on a Windows PC:
- Launch the Eudora application
- Select the Tools menu and choose Options from the
list
- Click
the Checking Mail icon on the left side of the Options window
- Uncheck the Save password option and click the OK
button
- Quit Eudora
- Launch Eudora again
- Click the Check Mail icon
- Type in
your new password and click OK
- Select the Tools menu and choose Options from the
list
- Click
the Checking Mail icon on the left side of the Options window
- Click OK
Macintosh Platform
OS X Mail 2.x
To change your stored password in Mail 2.x on an OS X Mac:
- Launch the Mail application
- Select the Mail menu and choose Preferences from the
list
- Click the Accounts icon in the Preferences window
- In the Accounts column the left side of the window,
highlight your
account and then click the Account Information tab
- Type your new Directory password in the Password: field
- Click the Server Settings... button
- Type your new
Directory password in the Password: field
- Click OK
- Click the red button in the upper left corner to close the preferences
window
- Click the Save
button to save your changes

- Select the Tools menu and choose Password Manager from
list.
- Choose Manage Stored

To change your stored password in Entourage 2004 on an OS X Mac:
- Launch the Entourage application
- Select the Tools menu and choose Accounts from the
list
- Click the Mail
tab from the Accounts window
- Highlight your
account and then click the Edit button
- Type your new Directory password in the Password: field
- Click the Click here for advanced sending options button
- Information about your smtp settings will appear. Make sure the radio
button next to Use same settings as receiving mail server is
selected.
- Click the box in the upper left corner to close the window
- Click OK
Eudora 6.2.3
To change your stored password in Eudora 6.2.3 on an OS X Mac:
- Launch the Eudora application
- Select the Special menu and choose Settings from the
list
- In the column the left side of the Settings window, click
the Checking Mail icon
- Uncheck the Save password option and click OK
- Quit Eudora
- Launch Eudora again
- Click the Check Mail icon. You will be prompted to type in
your new password. Type your password and click OK.
- Select the Special menu and choose Settings from the
list
- In the column the left side of the Settings window, click
the Checking Mail icon
- Recheck the Save password option and click OK
