Email and Internet Security with Internet Explorer 5 and Outlook Express 5

The most dangerous and widespread computer viruses today are the ones that travel through email (usually as email attachments) or are activated by visiting a web page.  Internet Explorer (IE) 5.x and Outlook Express (OE) 5.x are particularly vulnerable to email viruses and malicious web scripts, and securing them from these security threats requires downloading and installing several updates and security patches.

A better solution is to upgrade to version 6 of Internet Explorer and Outlook Express, which fixes the security problems with the earlier versions without changing how the software looks and feels to the user (any of the instructions on our web pages regarding IE and OE 5 should also work for IE and OE 6).
