The OIT Virus Notification Program (VNP) is a program designed by the
OIT Help Desk to
safeguard the members of the University of Maryland community from
computer viruses by providing:

Alerts about new and damaging computer
viruses and information about how viruses operate.

Protection from viruses by providing downloadable anti-virus software and
information about securing software from viruses.

Tips on how to avoid being infected by new computer viruses that anti-virus
software cannot initially detect .

Outreach and reminders about computer viruses through various news media.
